BAKTERAL
Injectable Solution
Description:
A chemotherapeutical combination with long and wide spectrum of activity.
Composition:
1 ml BAKTERAL 24 % inj. contains: Sulfadoxine 200 mg Trimethoprim 40 mg
Indications:
It is indicated in the following cases:
* Infections of respiratory apparatus: especially shipping fever, pasteurella pneumonia, enzootic pneumonia, virus pneumonias complicated with secondary bacteriae and nonspecific respiratory infections, bronchopneumonia, pleuritis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, nonspecific cough.
* Infection of gastrointestinal tract: E.coli infections, salmonellosis etc.
* Nephritis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, mastitis, septicaemia, sepsis due to generalized or metastazied bacterial infections.
* Rearing diseases of newborn animals: Septicaemia, colibacillosis, enteritis, pneumonia, umblical infections, polyarthritis, etc.
* Treatment of local infections: wound infections, phlegmons, traumatic reticuloperitonitis, infected claw and hoot injuries, joint infections, etc.
CHARACTERISTICS:
* BAKTERAL has a wide spectrum of activity which includes both Gram (-) and Gram (+) bacteria.
* BAKTERAL has also long duration of activity, so that one injection may be sufficient for clinical recovery in many cases.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The recommended dose of BAKTERAL 24 % inj. is 15 mg active substance per 1 kg bodyweight (about 3 ml of BAKTERAL 24 % per 50 kg)
Adult cattle 20-30 ml. i.v., i.m. s.c., i. tracheal
Horse 20-30 ml. i.v., otherwise i.m., i. tracheal
Young cattle 5-15 ml. i.v., i.m., s.c., i. tracheal
Foals 5-15 ml. i.v., otherwise i.m., i. tracheal
Calves 3-5 ml. i.v., i.m, s.c.
Sheeps and goats 3-5 ml., i.v., i.m.
Lambs and kids 0.5-1.0 ml., i.v., i.m.
Sows 8-12 ml., i.v., i.m., s.c.
Single dose is sufficient in many cases. If the response appear poor within 24 hours, second dose in the same amount reponse appear must be given within 48 hours after the first.
BAKTERAL 24 % inj. may be given to laboratory animals, rabbits and poultry, via drinking water at the dosis of 0.1 ml per 1 kg of bodyweight.
The use on aquaculture: the fishes are left in medicated bath (0.1-0.2 ml BAKTERAL 24 % per 1 liter of water) for 1-2 hours, then will be transported to normal water pools.
The use on tropical fish: BAKTERAL 24 % is added into water in aquarium (0.2 ml per 10 liters) and after 12 hours freshwater will be replaced (during the bathingtime switch off the cleaning unit).
